Throughout its 32 years of existence, Altino Ventura Foundation has consolidated its work based on three strong pillars:
- Assistance to eye health and rehabilitation of multiple disabilities of low-income patients;
- Training ophthalmologists in all levels of clinical-surgical complexity;
- Fostering scientific research.

In 2018, Altino Ventura Foundation held the twenty-first edition of the Annual Scientific Conference, and Scientific Meeting of Students attending its Specialization, Medical Residency, and Fellowship in Ophthalmology programs. At this event, graduate students from Altino Ventura Foundation present unpublished scientific works, which are discussed by a panel of visiting professors. All scientific papers presented at this conference are published in FAV’s journal “Memórias”, an annual and official publication of the institution.
